Privacy Policy for LessonOS
Last Updated: April 2, 2026
Introduction
LessonOS ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application LessonOS (the "App").
Information We Collect
LessonOS is primarily an offline application. The App itself does not collect personal information, analytics data, location data, or device identifiers. No login or account creation is required to use the App.
All data you enter into the App (students, classes, attendance records, leave requests) is stored locally on your device and is under your control.
How Your Data Is Stored
- All data is stored locally on your device using Android's built-in secure storage (SQLite database)
- We do not operate any servers and do not have access to your data
- No internet connection is required to use the core features of the App
Google Drive Backup (Optional Feature)
LessonOS offers an optional backup feature that uses your personal Google Drive account. This section describes how the App interacts with Google user data.
What Google Data We Access
When you choose to use the backup feature, the App requests access to the Google Drive Application Data folder (drive.appdata scope). This is a hidden, app-specific folder on your Google Drive that:
- Is only accessible by LessonOS — no other apps or users can see it
- Is not visible in the regular Google Drive interface
- Contains only backup files created by LessonOS
How We Use Google Data
The App uses Google Drive access solely for the following purposes:
- Backup: Uploading a compressed copy of your local app data (students, classes, attendance, leave requests) to your personal Google Drive
- Restore: Downloading a previously created backup from your Google Drive to restore your data
- Listing backups: Retrieving a list of your existing backups so you can choose which one to restore
- Cleanup: Automatically deleting the oldest backups when you have more than 5, to manage storage
How Google Data Is Stored
- Backup files are stored in your personal Google Drive account, in the hidden app-specific folder
- We do not store, copy, or retain your Google data on any servers
- We do not have access to your Google Drive files — only the App on your device can access the app-specific folder
- Temporary backup files created during the backup/restore process are stored in the App's cache directory and deleted immediately after the operation completes
How Google Data Is Shared
- We do not share your Google user data with any third parties
- We do not use your Google user data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than backup and restore
- We do not use your Google user data to train machine learning or AI models
- Your Google data is transmitted directly between your device and Google's servers using Google's secure APIs — it never passes through our systems
Your Control Over Google Data
- The backup feature is entirely optional — the App works fully without it
- You can sign out of Google at any time from the App's Settings screen
- You can revoke the App's access to your Google Drive at any time via Google Account Permissions
- Revoking access does not delete existing backup files — you can remove them by clearing the App's data in your Google Account settings
Google Sign-In
When you use the backup feature, the App uses Google Sign-In to authenticate your identity. The App receives:
- Your email address — used solely to identify your Google account for Drive API access
- Your display name — shown in the App's Settings screen so you know which account is connected
This information is stored only in the App's local memory and is cleared when you sign out. It is not transmitted to any servers or shared with third parties.
In-App Purchases
The App offers an optional in-app purchase processed through Google Play. We do not collect or store any payment information. All payment processing is handled by Google Play. For information about Google's privacy practices, please visit: Google Privacy Policy
CSV Data Export
The App allows you to export your data as CSV files via the Android share sheet. Exported files are created in the App's temporary cache and shared using Android's built-in sharing mechanism. We do not access, store, or transmit the exported files — they are handled entirely by your device's operating system and the receiving app you choose.
Data Sharing
We do not share any data with third parties. The App connects to external services only for:
- Google Play — for in-app purchase verification
- Google Drive — for the optional backup feature (user-initiated only)
Data Security
- All local data is stored using Android's secure storage mechanisms
- Google Drive communication uses Google's secure, encrypted APIs
- The App does not operate any servers or databases
- Your privacy is protected by Android's built-in security features and Google's security infrastructure
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete app data: Use the reset function in the App's settings, or uninstall the App to remove all local data
- Access your data: All your data is stored locally on your device and accessible within the App. You can also export it as CSV files.
- Revoke Google access: Sign out from the App or revoke permissions at Google Account Permissions
- Delete backup data: Revoke the App's Google Drive access to prevent future backups. Existing backup files can be removed via Google Account settings.
Children's Privacy
Our App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
